Sherine Shohdy – March 2023
Sherine was appointed Coverage Director for BII in Egypt in August 2020. Sherine joins BII with a wealth of experience working in Egypt and across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, both in development finance and across the private sector. She is currently the Head of Egypt Office and her coverage responsibilities have expanded across North Africa where she leads on BII’s investment strategy across the region driving origination, overseeing portfolio management, and leading key stakeholder relationship management including UK Government, DFIs, advisors and a broad range of investment partners.
Prior to joining BII, Sherine worked as a senior consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with a focus on the manufacturing, agribusiness, and services sectors across the MENA region, having previously spent close to a decade at the institution working on investments mostly focused on the infrastructure and natural resources sectors in Egypt and other neighbouring countries, including Jordan, Iraq and Pakistan. Sherine has also held senior positions at Hassan Allam Holding, its subsidiary Hassan Allam Utilities and the Arab African International Bank.
Sherine is a Chevening Scholar, holding a Masters degree from The University of Reading (UK) and an undergraduate degree from The American University in Cairo.
